Simon Bailey, from Staffordshire Moorlands AC, was a clear winner of the Pendle Fell race on Saturday.

He had a massive 90-second winning margin over Pudsey and Bramley's Gary Devine with a time of 30min 37sec following the near five-mile race over some steep climbs.

Ged Cudahy, currently between clubs, was three seconds further adrift in third. Veteran runner Ian Ferguson (Bingley Harriers) was first of the locals in 16th place with 35-03.

Fellow Harrier Colin Moses was 19th (35-20 while Keighley and Craven's first man home was Des Fretwell in 41st place (37-27).

Otrher Keighley finishers in a field of 233 were Paul Hindle (55th, 38-51), Brett Weeden (100th, 41-16), John Preston (111st, 41-50), Andrew Watts (129th, 43-19), Paul Morris (153rd, 45-40) and Christine Preston (11th lady, 47-38).

The junior race for under-16s was won by Burnley AC's Marc Hartley in 12-47 with Skipton AC's Sheryl Slater running a fine race for sixth place in 15-53.

Skipton had a dead heat for first place in the under-14 section with James D Mountain and James Kelley both clocking in at 11-04.

l Despite having a weakened team due to last minute drop-outs, Keighley and Craven AC had an excellent result at the Northern 12-Stage Relays in Stockport.

'Zip' Jones was back in form, getting the team off to a flying start and ganbding over to Daz Brame who kept up the pace to take the team into the top 15.

Chris Bartle, who stepped in at the last minute, had a good third leg to keep the team in qualifying position and good follow-up performances by Will Smith, Chris Loftus and Ian Taylor ensured an excellent overall position of 19th.

Keighley and Craven now travel to Birmingham to compete in the National finals later this month.
