TEAMS are gearing up for action in the first round of the Airedale and Wharfedale League's Waddilove and Birtwhistle Cup competitions on Sunday.

Waddilove Cup holders Guiseley venture into the unknown when they host Division C side Bolton Villas for the first time.

The Division A side look well equipped for another Waddilove Cup campaign following the recruitment of former Bradford League bowler Peter Graham.

Menston visit reigning league champions Bilton on successive days as they also clash in the league on Saturday.

Menston will be looking to their overseas player Matthew Heffernan among others. Menston are always something of an enigma and could well surprise Bilton.

Last season's beaten finalists Rawdon have a home game against Adel which could prove to be one of the game's of the round.

This year's Waddilove Cup final will be at Rawdon CC on Sunday, August 11, with the Birtwhistle Cup final at Calverley CC on August 4.
