Ilkley rally strategist and sporting advisor Phil Short recorded his 50th world rally championship victory in Argentina on Sunday night when Spaniard Carlos Sainz and co-driver Luis Moya were declared winners of the Rally Argentina.

Short has been involved in world rally at the highest level for many years, with Audi, with Toyota, with Mitsubishi, and now with Ford.

While Phil Short was celebrating his 50th win Ilkley racing driver James Hanson was putting the Volvo S60 into European saloon car championship points at Brno finishing in fourth place in race one after qualifying fifth.

Hanson said: "It was good to get in the points and a real achievement to finish both races. The S60 has performed well and is really suited to this circuit with its stability round the corners. Having set the fastest time here I am looking forward to Jarama."
