The crowds were out in force at Manor Farm in Cullingworth at the weekend.

Visitors to the fourth Bront Vintage Gathering were treated to local trials rider Dan Clark demonstrating his talents on two wheels, cowboy posse The Arizona Rangers staging bank robberies, Wild West style, and birds of prey in breathtaking falconry displays.

Also among the attractions at the two-day festival, which raises money for Manorlands, were a demonstration by the Ryburn Valley Pony Club, sheep dog trials with ducks and a raffle with a helicopter ride as first prize.

Organiser Kathleen Snowden said: "Saturday was not very good with the weather but, Sunday was a brilliant day.

"I'm just glad that the sun shone on us. Everybody seemed to have a really good day. We don't know how much we raised yet."

It is not yet known how many people attended, but numbers through the gate were thought to be between 4,000 and 4,500.

Organisers were also sad to announce the cancellation of the harness racing, which was to have taken place this weekend.

The racing has been cancelled because of a lack of entries due to the date of the meeting.

Mrs Snowden explained: "Normally we hold the racing in September, which is at the end of the season.

"We need at least 60 horses to enter but we can't attract enough because they can get bigger prize money at other races at this time of year.

"We don't want to do it by half. It's been really difficult. We have had everything booked but we only made the decision to cancel on Friday."

The organisers are now planning another event to take place in August.
