A time capsule capturing the lives of people living in the Leeming area of Oxehope, is to be buried as residents celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee.

And to crown the event, they are to light a beacon bonfire on Long Causeway which crosses the Bront moorland.

The capsule will contain photographs of local households outside their homes and the entries to a children's drawing competition on the theme of "Jubilee Day" or "Life in Leeming."

Jubilee committee chairman Fiona Denby said: "The community felt that we wanted to record this historic occasion for future generations - so that one day, some decades from now, whoever digs up the capsule will be able to get an insight into what life in Leeming was like in 2002."

The day will kick off at 3pm on Monday, June 3 with a street party for the communities of Leeming and Tansey End on the main road through Leeming

The afternoon's fun is aimed mainly at local children and will feature races and games, fancy dress and competitions, and the traditional bouncy castle.

The evening will see the adults dancing in the street to the sounds of local band, Soulfish.
