Visitors were queuing at the door when a Keighley funeral home opened up to the public.

The Knowle had decided to stage the open day to mark a £100,000 refurbishment at its Victoria Road premises.

And the response was phenomenal.

A spokesman said: "There were well over 100 people there, including a lot of families.

"People enjoyed viewing all the facilities, and there were plenty of questions.

"It was an extremely successful event."

Visitors were able to see the chapel of rest, lounge and gardens of remembrance.

And children had the chance to meet horses Regent and Royal, which pull the Victorian hearse.

Special guest at Sunday's event was Keighley-born TV weatherman Paul Hudson.

The refurbishment at The Knowle - which is owned by Yorkshire Co-operatives Ltd - has doubled the size of the chapel, to seat 100.

A new consultation room has been added, together with a new access and toilets for the disabled and a lounge where people can wait prior to services.
