Long Lee came close to toppling Embsay despite playing with ten men at Shires Lane.

The home team pulled off a nervy two-wicket win, but if the Keighley side had turned out with a full squad it could have been a different story.

Their ten men made 93 as Rob Cowley took 3-34 and Tom Hanson 3-24. Opener Duncan Bullough was the rock of Embsay's innings. He made 45 not out as his side reached their target with just one over to spare. Matthew Taylor finished with 4-26.

The weather played a big part in the outcome of matches. Very few games started in the Keighley area but all the Craven matches started.

Sparks flew at Barrowford in their Red Rose derby clash with Pendle Forest.

The home side had kept the wicket protected by a cover and when the umpires deemed the ground fit for play, the Fence side refused to take part. At one point, allegedly, the Forest skipper threatened the umpires would be held responsible for any injuries if they made his side play. At this point the umpires called the game off, but Barrowford are claiming the points. The League Executive will have to make a decision on the game.

Oakworth move into third place after defeating Cowling in a match reduced to 40 overs per side. The Cure Hill side batted first and blasted 204-3 in 29 overs and then declared. John Crossley led the way with 67 not out, Mark Price 59 and Robert Hopkinson 54. The South Craveners offered little resistance as they replied with 108-4. Steve Mitchell scoring 45 as Michael Scarborough took 4-39.

Bradley remain without a point after going down by 64 runs at home to Skipton CI. The visitors made 200-9 with Nick Williamson blasting 90 as James Heseltine claimed 4-50. Williamson followed this with 6-34 as Bradley crumpled to 136 all out. Neil Robinson scoring 56

There was no play between Haworth and Thornton, or Foulridge v Cullingworth.

Ingrow's lead at the top of the Second Division is cut to a point after they were rained off at Chatburn.

Jimmy Nelson's move into second after a 10 run victory in a low scoring game at Ingrow St. John's. The Red Rose side were dismissed for 83 with Anthony Haigh taking 5-31. In turn the Saints were dismissed for 73 with Dave Greenwood taking 5-26.

Haworth West End come next after whipping Gargrave out for 40 and then knocking off the runs for the loss of two wickets.

Glusburn's Simon Hegarty took 8-44 as visitors Carleton were shot out for 99. Craig Watts with 58 not out and Mick Baxter 29 not out saw Glusburn to victory by eight wickets.

Sutton travelled over the hill to Cononley and secured an eight-wicket win. The home side were dismissed for 70 with Darren Wild 4-38 and Justin Holdsworth 3-20 doing the damage. Andrew Fountain top scored with 41 not out for the winners.

There was no play at Airedale.

Embsay still lead the Third Division but by just one point after their game at Cullingworth was washed out.

Thornton move into second place after a comprehensive eight wicket win at Booth Bridge Lane. Visitors Glusburn were restricted to 134-9. Veteran Derek Mosley and T Ackbar each scoring 32 as Mark Laycock took 5-57. In the reply Nick Bowker scored his half century, scoring 52 to go with evergreen John Roughton's 43.

Haworth got the better of the 'hill toppers' game over at Long Lee. They posted 158-7 with Derek Bright scoring 42 not out as evergreen John Tetley bowled another marathon spell of 23 overs and finished with 3-57. The home side were progressing reasonably well at 91-3 but then lost their last seven wickets adding just 26 runs. Destroyer in chief being Dave Walsh who finished with 6-34 assisted by R Ellis with 3-33. Dean Baldwin scored 34 for the losers.

There was a low scoring affair down at Sandylands where the home side was dismissed for 71 with new recruit Mick Prince making 31 as Peter Hakin claimed 4-39. The visitors reply would have been a sorry tale but for the efforts of Kevin Parkinson who made 41 out of a total of 55. John Stuttard finished with 6-25

There was no play between Oakworth and Bradley or Pendle Forest and Cowling.

Chatburn maintain a three-point lead at the top of the Fourth Division after travelling to Sutton and taking the points by 20 runs. In a 41-over a side game the Ribblesdale team scored 127. The home team had reached 107-5 at the close.

Second placed Ingrow St John's also won at Keighley Tech. They blasted a mammoth 211-4 with Barry Wood Scoring 71 and A. Hargreaves 62. The Rose Cottagers could only manage 86 in reply.

There was no play at Denholme, Ingrow or Pendle Forest III.

Finally the youthful Long Lee III side recorded their first victory when they beat Gargrave by eight wickets at Carleton.

The visitors were dismissed for a paltry 40 with S. Crosby taking 5-19 and Simon Doane 4-18. Stephen Butterfield made 19 not out as the Keighley side galloped to an impressive victory in the eleventh over.
