OFFICIALS of Keighley Cricket Club have been searching through the record books as the team's superb start to the season continues.

Last weekend they clocked up another two victories to continue their 100 per cent record with seven wins from seven games - with Stephen Reape the hero.

On Saturday the all-rounder took an incredible nine wickets for just 24 runs, and denied himself the chance of picking up all ten wickets by catching the other Drighlington batsmen off the bowling of Dale Towler.

He followed up with a knock of 92 as the Lawkeholme side cruised into the last 16 of the Heavy Woollen Cup.

"I've never known a start to a season like this, the whole team is firing on all cylinders and the spirit throughout the club is fantastic," said club secretary Michael Parker.

Paul Wilkinson played a superb openers innings in the club's league match on Saturday, battling his way to 45 in difficult conditions. The team reached 142-9 which was to prove more than enough.

Drighlington suffered a nightmare start with both openers back in the pavilion without a run on the board. Reape captured one victim and held the catch to dismiss the second.

From than it was a one man show to finish with two victims bowled, three lbw's and four caught. His figures were 14.5 overs, five maidens, nine wickets at a cost of 24 runs.

The six points from the win puts Keighley five points clear at the top of the table with 24 points from their four league games.

Mirfield and Morley are in second place on 19 points and were due to play each other, but saw the game fall victim to the weather leaving them with one point each.

"After just four games we are already talking about promotion at the club, but there is a long way to go," Mr Parker said.

Reape's roller-coaster continued on Sunday as the team beat strong Huddersfield League Premier Division side Lascelles Hall in the Heavy Woollen Cup.

He rattled up 92 with the bat and Dale Towler stepped up to take five wickets for just 14 runs as the visitors were shot out for 65.

In the third round they face Bankfoot in an all Bradford League match on June 16. The two teams also meet tomorrow (Saturday) in the league.

They also face a real test of the team's progress in the next round of the Priestley Cup on June 9, when they travel to first division side Hanging Heaton.
