NORTH RIBBLESDALE RFC will be competing in Yorkshire Division One again next season.

Their fate went to the wire in that the final promotion and relegation issues were only decided last weekend, the Settle club's fate hanging on the outcome of the Yorkshire One/Durham & Northumberland One play-off match between Ashington and Scarborough.

Scarborough won that match 23-17, thanks largely to two tries from Ian Warwick, who was the toast of Grove Park on Saturday.

That win made the Dalesmen impervious to the on-going scenario above them, in which Aspatria consigned Sheffield to relegation with their win over Driffield.

The wider picture shows Bradford & Bingley, Middlesbrough and Wigton dropping from North One to North Two East, Cleckheaton and Huddersfield stepping up, while Wheatley Hills, Old Crossleyans and Bridlington will now be on Ribblesdale's fixture list next season.

Joining them in Yorkshire One will be Huddersfield YMCA and Dinnington, with Hull and Scarborough moving up.

At the foot of Yorkshire One, Beverley, West Park Bramhope and Pocklington will now join Skipton and Keighley in Yorkshire Two, with Heath and Malton & Norton newcomers from Yorkshire Three.
