A 22-year-old man has been cleared of indecently assaulting two girls in a Shipley park.

Mohammed Baig was found not guilty of two indecent assaults after a trial at Bradford Crown Court. But the jury was discharged after they failed to reach a verdict on an allegation of indecent assault on a third girl.

The Crown Prosecution Service now has 14 days to decide whether there should be a re-trial on that charge. It was alleged that Baig dragged a 14-year-old into bushes and assaulted her, attacked another 14-year-old after massaging her shoulders and then indecently assaulted a 15-year-old.

Baig, of Ellercroft Avenue, Lidget Green, told the jury he met a group of teenagers at the park last June and saw the girls on a bench drinking wine.

He admitted speaking to the girls, who cannot be identified, but he denied touching them.

Baig, who pleaded not guilty to three charges of indecent assault, claimed he left the park and went home on "good terms".

But under cross-examination, he said he felt he was being ignored at times because he was Asian and older than the others.

Asked if the allegations were made up, he said: "None of this is true. I didn't do anything."
