Lee Gilmour feels there is more pressure on him playing for Great Britain now than there was four years ago.

The Bradford Bulls utility player - one of three Bulls players selected for the one-off Test against Australia in Sydney on Friday, July 12 - was capped twice against New Zealand when he was a 20-year-old back-row forward with Wigan.

"I was probably a bit more relaxed then," said Gilmour, who usually plays centre for the Bulls these days.

"It was my first full year at senior level and to get picked by Great Britain was a massive bonus.

"But now I feel there is more pressure on me because I am 24. More is expected of me.

"Mind you, I reckon I am a more rounded player nowadays - more versatile."

Gilmour played at loose forward for Yorkshire in the first Origin game at Wigan, and had half a match there in the return fixture at Headingley.

After a season that has been interrupted by a 'dead leg' and a dislocated wrist, the 1998 Young Player of the Year says he is "only just hitting his strides".

The 6ft 2in centre added: "I was very, very disappointed not to be picked for the Test series against Australia last Autumn, having played for Yorkshire in the Origin match.

"However, an injury meant that Graham Mackay got the centre berth for the Grand Final, although our coach Brian Noble told me that if I had stayed fit and kept my form I would have made the Great Britain team, which is nice."

Gilmour, who is joined in the 19 by clubmates Jamie Peacock and Stuart Fielden, had a word of consolation for Paul Anderson, Paul Deacon and Leon Pryce, who missed out.

"I am sure that 'Baloo' (Anderson) would have played had he not broken his arm, and I am equally certain that Leon and Paul Deacon will be in the 24 to face New Zealand at the end of the season."

l The future of Odsal Stadium is bound to be a major topic of conversation when Bulls fans have a forum there in the directors' bar tonight (7.30).

Fans are reminded that Friday's match against St Helens at Knowsley Road is all-ticket.

Tickets are available from Odsal for the stand at £16 (£11 concessions), or the ground at £12 (£7 concessions).
