Plans have been drawn up to restore the ancient stocks in Bingley - one of the town's oldest historical attractions.
The Grade II-listed stocks outside the arts centre in Main Street are in a desperate state of repair.
A piece of wood has broken off the top of the structure and the iron bolts and plates are corroded.
Now the 17th century stocks, which were last used in Keighley to punish a criminal in 1866, are being recommended for a environmental improvement grant from the Shipley Area Committee.
The stocks are next to the ancient market hall and both features were moved from Prince of Wales Park to the town centre after an appeal by the civic trust.
Town centre manager David Dinsey, pictured, said he found a piece of wood which had fallen off the stocks and contacted Bradford Council's conservation and heritage department which carried out a survey.
