Bradford City have cut ticket prices for next season in a rallying call to their supporters.

The Bantams have slashed admission costs right round the ground in a bid to lure back the fans they lost after being relegated from the Premiership.

It is a timely gesture to bring back a feel-good factor to Valley Parade after the turmoil of recent weeks.

Managing director Shaun Harvey said: "Never have the club's supporters been so important. It has been a difficult time for everyone and we're now hoping that the public of Bradford will come out and support us in numbers.

"One of the main criticisms last season was that we were too expensive. The new prices mean that while we are not the cheapest, we are slightly less than average compared with the rest of the division."

Adult prices have been reduced by around £3 from last season. Some areas like the A and F blocks of the Carlsberg Stand and the Bantams Bar have been dropped by a fiver.

Adult fans will pay on average £15 - £4 less than newly-promoted Stoke, who

City visit the second weekend of the campaign.

City are desperate to fill Valley Parade's 25,000 capacity. They topped 20,000 only once last season - against West Brom in the final home game when up to 6,000 away fans managed to get tickets.

The club had already decided to lower costs for this term before the administration crisis. After all that has gone on since May, it is essential to restore faith with their disillusioned fanbase.

City are hoping the new price format will bring forgotten supporters out of the woodwork, especially for the bigger games such as Yorkshire derbies.

They kick off with a cracker against bookies favourites Wolves on August 11. It has been put back to a 4.30pm Sunday start for live TV coverage but the club still anticipate a bumper turn-out.

Tickets go on sale for that game from tomorrow and Harvey said: "It's an attractive first game and we'd like to think the supporters will be there in force.

"We hope the pricing policy will help to attract supporters young and old. And the more people coming through the turnstiles now, the more chance of keeping them long term."

Season-ticket sales have reached the 7,000 mark. Last year City sold 8,300.

l Tickets for City's home friendly against Middlesbrough on Monday, August 5 will cost £10 for adults, £5 senior citizens and £2 juniors.

All fans are asked to pay on the day and there will be no advance sales. City supporters will use the Carlsberg Stand and lower tier of the Sunwin Stand. Away supporters will be in the Symphony Stand while other areas of the ground will remain closed.

Banqueting packages at £35 are available on 01274 778778.
