A group of African warriors took Holy Family School by storm.

The renowned dance troupe The Mighty Zulu Nation were at the school to give everyone a taste of Africa.

The dancers put on a spellbinding performance in the Keighley school's main hall, wearing full traditional costume.

Pupils and staff were blown away by the sheer energy, power and vibrancy of the rhythms, songs and dances of the Zulu Nation.

Tony Scully, head of creative arts, enthused: "It was absolutely fantastic, a wonderful experience.

"The children were completely gobsmacked and the applause at the end was amazing.

"They kept 450 children awe-struck for 45 minutes, and that's no mean feat."

After the show a group of pupils took part in a workshop with the African tribesmen and women in the gym, where they learnt about the language, culture and customs of the Zulus.

And later they were given the opportunity to learn some of the Zulu dancing.

The Mighty Zulu Nation, formed in 1994, is made up of 24 dancers who have gained fame and international recognition for their mesmerising and powerful performances to audiences worldwide.

They have been touring England since March and are due to return in November, when they will visit Holy Family and a number of other Keighley schools.

One of the mighty Zulu's, Thando, said: "It has been great.

"It is very good to work with the children. Some of them do not know very much about Africa and they ask many questions about the food and the culture."
