Bradford Park Avenue midfielder Ian Richards today revealed he is appealing to FIFA over his transfer window nightmare.

The former Blackburn Rovers player is making the complaint after being told he faces being sidelined until January by returning to England three days after the August 31 deadline.

Richards was playing in regional football for Lower Hutt City in New Zealand over the winter.

But returning on September 3 has denied him a chance to continue his hobby back in the UniBond Premier League.

"I can see why they have the rule for the Premiership," said Richards, who also played at Avenue last season.

"But it makes no sense at this level. Nobody thought the FIFA rule applied to non-league football. I would have got back before the deadline if I had known."

Richards has also enlisted the help of the Professional Footballers' Association in his fight to play.
