Nicky Law today challenged Juanjo: Prove me wrong and win your place back.

Despite coming on for the last half hour at Wrexham, City's Spanish winger has hardly played under Law.

Before Tuesday, his only action so far was the final five minutes at Ipswich. Last season he started four times, twice at this afternoon's opponents Walsall, but was taken off before the end in two of those.

Like Claus Jorgensen, Law has made it pretty clear to Juanjo that he does not figure in the plans at City.

Law said: "I've told him my thoughts. To be fair, he has got some ability but he has to bring more consistency to his game.

"We all know he has got something but he needs to be showing it on a more regular basis and that hasn't been the case so far."

Juanjo, who scored in Thursday's reserves friendly at Sheffield United, is out of contract at the end of the season. There have been rumours of a return to Scotland but with the transfer window now shut until January he will have to battle away to force Law to change his mind.

The 25-year-old is likely to get his next chance in the reserves on Wednesday when they face Aston Villa at Odsal.

City will play only two more matches at the Bulls' home before heading back to the Bradford & Bingley Stadium.

Middlesbrough's visit on Tuesday, October 8 will be the last reserve game at Odsal. City will revert back to their own ground from the October 22 clash with Sheffield Wednesday.
