Detectives hunting a serial sex attacker on the prowl in Bradford stopped more than 300 drivers last night in a bid to catch him.

The information search was carried out at three spots in Baildon, one of the places where the pervert has struck, between 11pm and 1am.

And today Detective Superintendent Phil Sedg-wick, who is leading the inquiry, said he was delighted with the response.

Police officers from the operations support unit in Carrgate, Wakefield, blocked roads and stopped drivers at the junctions of Green Lane with Otley Road and Baildon Road with Otley Road, and on Hawksworth Road.

The attacker has struck at least four times in Baildon, Bingley and Shipley, and these areas were last night patrolled by police.

Drivers and passengers were asked if they had spotted anyone acting suspiciously in the area or if they know anyone who matches the description of the attacker.

Two attacks have been carried out in the Baildon area. The first occurred on Tuesday July 9 when a 13-year-old girl was grabbed in woodland by Glenaire Park, Coach Road. The second happened on Saturday August 24, when a 24-year-old woman in Green Road, Baildon, was punched in the face.

Detectives have now called in a Cracker-style specialist to build a psychological profile of the attacker who is described as white, at least 6ft tall and slim, between 18 and 26. Detective Inspector Trevor Gasson of Keighley CID said detectives are still urging the driver of a Ford car, who may have seen the attacker in Green Road in the early hours of August 24, to come forward.

Police have been contacted by one woman who may have been targeted by the pervert in Denby Drive, Baildon.
