Products made by Bradford firms, including Mumtaz curries and Seabrooks crisps, are going on tour to highlight the district's Capital of Culture bid.

A range of Bradford firms ' produce was on show in London this week as part of the Bradford Embassy, which promoted the are's achievements and its claim to be European City of Culture in 2008.

The exhibition, called Made in Bradford, featured products and services that make a key contribution to the district, have national or international brands or have won an award.

It included colourful clothes and materials from Bombay Stores, a selection of food from Mumtaz Food Industries, a new beer called Royal Ale from Keighley brewery Timothy Taylors, Hallmark cards, a display of photographs from the Telegraph & Argus and shoes made by designer Helen Wilde at the Bradford-based Yorkshire Craft Centre.

Other firms represented were Digtronix, Clissold Shirts, Filtronic, Isola Composites and Don Whitley Scientific.

Supported by Yorkshire Forward, the exhibition will feature as part of the Design Council's Design in Business Week at the award-winning Magna Centre in Rotherham, before touring the Bradford district.

"Bradford 2008 has been searching for some of the best and most innovative products made in Bradford," said bid director Paul Brookes.

"Yorkshire people are renowned for keeping quiet about their achievements but we are showing the world that Bradford competes on a global stage.

"We are delighted with the support - Greggs bakers even had curd tarts couriered down to London for the event!"

Made in Bradford was one of a series of galleries at the Bradford Embassy, devoted to life in the district, which took over the entire top floor of London's Trafalgar Hotel.

Visitors included past and present Bradfordians, Yorkshire MPs and representatives from Bradford Council, the Arts Council, the British Council, London galleries and other embassies in the capital.

Former Hollywood film producer Lord Puttnam was the city Ambassador, with television presenter Richard Whiteley his cultural attache.

Made in Bradford products are featured on the Bradford 2008 website.
