There was high drama before the final relegation spot was settled as the curtain came down on the Craven League season.

Bradley travelled to Glusburn, in Division Three knowing they had to win to stand a chance of staying up. They batted first and made a modest 129, with Richard Smith taking 5-19.

The home side were never really in the hunt and were dismissed for 85 with Bradley skipper Ashley Walmsley taking 6-38. Bradley had heard that the only club that could deny them, Long Lee, were 52-6 chasing Oakworth's 179-4 at Cure Hill.

They would have been even more confident if they had learnt that that became 69-8. However they must have been distraught when news came that Long Lee had recovered to win by one wicket.

The heroes for Long Lee were 15-year-old Stephen Doane and Paul McCullough who put together a partnership of 108 before Doane was dismissed for a superb 75, with just two runs needed for safety. The winning runs came shortly afterwards with 13 balls to spare, McCullough being 43no.

The Bronte side smashed 267-4 with Tim Welch, rounding off a good season with the bat, making 82 and Adam Bailey 62. The visitors were dismissed for 178 in reply.
