A season which had promised much went out with a whimper as Keighley went down to a three wicket defeat on the last day of the season.

Earlier in the campaign they had been fighting for promotion, but a mid-season slump cost them the chance of promotion.

But the season will be remembered for their superb Heavy Woollen Cup victory, which made them the first all-amateur team to win the covetted competition.

B7y contrast Saturday's performacne was a tame affair despite an impressive half century from Mark Beckett. he scored 53 as they set Mirfield a target of 181.

Earlier Lee Gordon had scored 19 and Ross Towler added 26.

Stuart Ratcliffe weighed in with 34 later in the innings, but the bowlers needed to take early wickets to put the home side under pressure.

Brothers Ross and Dale Towler opened the attack but could not find the breakthrough they needed as Mirfield reached 62 before the first wicket fell.

They offered few chances as every batsman reached double figures on their way to the three-wicket win.
