Bingley's old, inadequate Scout headquarters will be replaced by a modern new building which will also be a community centre in a new housing development. The news comes at a time when the Bingley Community Action Group are negotiating with the Bradford District Council's Further Education Panel to use the dis-used Bingley Fire Station as a community centre.

Sir Montague Burton - "the tailor of taste" has collapsed and died at a private dinner party at a Leeds Hotel. He was 67. The party of business associates were celebrating the Jewish New Year and the founding of the firm of Burton. Sir Montague had just risen to reply to the speeches when he suddenly faltered, swayed and collapsed.
