Michael Proctor leads City's attack for the final time this weekend before going back to Sunderland.

The north-east club this morning confirmed that they want the striker back at the Stadium of Light when his loan runs out at the weekend.

Proctor (pictured) is set to play against Norwich at the Bradford & Bingley Stadium tomorrow, although Nicky Law also has Danny Cadamarteri available after serving a three-match ban.

Proctor, who has been with City for two months, has hit four goals in 11 games and his departure will be a big blow to Law, although it has not come as a complete surprise.

Sunderland have had an observer at every home game and boss Howard Wilkinson wants to see the striker at closer quarters as he looks to lift the club from the Premiership lower reaches.

City may now have to plunge back into the loan market to bring in another short-term replacement ahead of Tuesday night's trip to Reading.

Proctor said: "It's a double-edged sword. I've always maintained that I'd love to go back to Sunderland and have a future there but at the same time I'm enjoying myself at Bradford and playing First Division football."

Proctor will want to sign off in style against the high-flying Canaries.

But he appreciates the size of the task against a side who have let in only nine goals in the league - the best defensive record in the division.

Second-placed Norwich, who could go top with a win if leaders Portsmouth lose at Burnley, are also unbeaten away since March 9 and they have not lost in their last seven games.

Proctor added: "If you want to do well in this division you have to perform against teams like Norwich. But we can take heart from the result we got earlier in the season at Ipswich and hopefully put the Sheffield Wednesday defeat out of our minds.

"The manager was right to say that too many of us didn't perform last week. I certainly wasn't happy with the way I played and the lads here are honest enough to hold up their hands.

"Hopefully we can put that result straight to bed. Norwich are having a terrific run but this is perfect chance for us to get back on form."

City are unbeaten at home this season in seven games but six of those have ended in draws. Only Rotherham have failed to get anything from their visit.

Law said: "If we could have turned the dominance we've had in some games into wins then we could possibly have eight points and be right up there.

"But it's just as easy to let a couple slip away and suddenly you are down there at the wrong end of the table. Norwich will pose a big test for the lads but we are better against the top teams."
