Children at Ingrow Primary School, Keighley, were full of hot air when they let off hundreds of balloons to raise cash for the school. Pupils each paid 50p to release a tagged balloon.
The one that is returned from the furthest distance will be the winner. Head teacher John Corn said: "The funds will be spent on the development of the school grounds, with things like bird boxes.
"We hope to raise a couple of hundred pounds and might also buy a mini music centre for key stage one. The balloons were sponsored by a £200 donation from Hays educational personnel agency."
The balloons were all printed with the company name as well as with the school's logo. Senior consultant at Hays, Eleanor Lutkin said: "We have done a bit of work with the school and were happy to help when they needed some support for this event."
Branch manager Liz Creasey added: "We try to get involved with the schools on a direct level. This is a really fun way for the children to raise money for the school so it's great to help them."
The pupil with the winning balloon will win a family bowling ticket for two games at AMF Bowl, as well as a meal in McDonald's.
