Builders dined with Parkwood Primary School, pupils in the canteen as an extension nears completion.
The building contractors have been at the school since the start of the term working on an extension to the nursery.
The children invited site manager David Kettlewell and his colleagues to a school dinner with them.
Head teacher Julie Butler said: "The on-going works have caused slight disruption to the normal running of the school but we are looking forward to enjoying the benefits of improved nursery facilities. The children have watched with interest as the building has taken shape.
"The workforce have been very co-operative in informing the children about the different processes involved in the building."
