Keighley LIFTS moved to with two points of Oxenhope at the top of the table, as they took advantage of the top club's involvement in the Keighley FA Cup.

Lifts secured a narrow home victory over Embsay after a close encounter. The Keighley side started well and pushed the visitors back, but could not score. Embsay also looked threatening when they broke out of defence but also had difficulty finding the back of the net.

The home side eventually took the lead midway through the first half and increased it just before the break. The second half saw Embsay push Lifts back into their penalty area and they pulled a goal back.

Lifts continued to defend resolutely and regained their two goal advantage. In a blistering final period Embsay scored just before the final whistle, but could not get an equaliser and were beaten 3-2.

Scorers for Lifts were Darren Harwood, Steve Cooke and Daniel Moriarty.

Cross Hills lifted all three points after beating Grassington 1-0. Both teams created chances and Grassington hit the woodwork twice, but could not get the final touch.

Midway through the first half Steve Holden put Cross Hills ahead and Grassington fluffed a great chance to equalise before half time. In the second period Cross Hills held on to their slender lead as both sides worked hard.

Bronte Wanderers were unfortunate not to get a point from the Division One encounter with Colne side Shepherds Arms.

The opening stages ere very even with both sides creating chances, but the score sheet remained blank at half time.

Colne took the lead early in the second half and Bronte roared back, but were caught out at the back to concede a second. The Keighley side continued to take the game to Colne, but their only reward was a late penalty scored by Liam Blacka. More control in front of goal could have brought them all three points from an entertaining game.

The Division Two local derby between Silsden Athletic and Cross Hills Reserves was a high scoring affair which saw the points finally go Silsden's way.

The Cobbydale side was well on top in the opening period as they produced some good attacking football and they took a 2-0 lead into the break with Shaun Whittaker scoring both goals. Hills came out all guns blazing after the break and goals from Sam Persons and Ben Thompson put them level within five minutes of the re-start.

Tom Driver put Silsden back ahead with Persons again putting Hills back on level terms. Keith Spence took Silsden back into the lead and although the Cross Hills side worked hard they could not get an equaliser.

Keighley Lifts Reserves travelled to Chatburn and contrived to loose a game they should have won.

Lifts started the better side but went behind when a cruel deflection evaded the keeper. They hit backs with two well taken goals and should have had more.

The game changed in the early stages of the second half when two bizarre own goals put Chatburn back ahead. A needless penalty gave the Ribble Valley side a 4-2 lead.

Lifts came back and scored a third goal and were searching for an equaliser when Chatburn broke away and scored their fifth to take the points. Scorers for the Keighley side were Lee Isherwood (2) and David McManus.

With only one point from six games Cowling Reserves travelled to unbeaten Cononley Reserves and pulled off the shock result of the weekend.

Eddie Jenkins put Cowling ahead with an early goal but it was 'whirlwind' Ben Brown who really rocked Cononley with three goals in quick succession to give his side a 4-0 lead at the break.

Shell shocked Cononley came out determined to put the record straight and within five minutes had pulled two goals back through Andrew Hudson and Nicolas Kaminski, but Cowling were in no mood to throw away their lead and Brown brought his tally to four.

Cononley scored a third through Ewan Scarr, but it was too late to change to result.
