YOUNG table tennis players Mary Fuller and Rebecca Singh have earned a place on the England Under-13 national training squad.

Mary, from Stanbury (left) and Rebecca are both members of the Bradford Development squad which trains at Oakbank School.

They started playing the game two years ago and earned their England squad call-up after putting in superb performances at the Yorkshire Trials at Harrogate.

The top four in each age group also made it through to the regional finals. Among those going through are Heather Shutt who is ranked England No5 at Under-15 level and Nichola White who is rated No6.

Stephen Denny won the Yorkshire boys trials and Katie Lightowler of South Craven School won the girls event.

Francesca Currie won the girls Under-15s with Rebecca Singh in second place.

Mary Fuller was fourth and Laura Mitchell of Worth Valley School was an excellent 12th in her first year.

The Development Scheme sent one of the biggest squads to the trials and they were particularly strong in the boys Under-15s section. top performers wre: 5 Thomas Rhodes, 8 Martin Bhatoa, 15 Jonathan Reynolds, 16 James Mulligan, 22 Alistair Kwan, 24 Tom Lister, 32 Lawrence Pollard, 40 Adam Rooney.
