Bradford's Capital of Culture team will find out next week whether the district has been shortlisted for the coveted 2008 title.
A shortlist of up to six of the British cities bidding for the title European Capital of Culture will be announced by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) on Wednesday.
Bradford's bid director Paul Brookes said the district "deserved to be on the shortlist."
He said: "We certainly deserve to be up there but it's up to the judges. It's a nerve-wracking time for us"
The shortlisted cities will be given the title Centre of Excellence and will receive some Government funding.
