Council workers from all parts of the Bradford metropolitan district will travel by special train to London to join a mass lobby by their union against Government cuts in public expenditure. The train has been laid on by the National Union of Public employees, and all 590 seats have been booked. At least 200 union members could not get on the train, and some are understood to be making their own way to the rally at Central Hall, Westminster.

Bradford Corporation Public Works Committee will be asked next week to authorise a formal opening ceremony for the 1,000th house to be completed this year. Coun R C Ruth, Chairman, told the Telegraph & Argus today that he was certain now that the 1,000th house would be completed before the end of this year, and it was felt that this landmark should be the subject of a ceremony. No details had been decided yet though.
