Jimmy Lowes is relishing the challenge of his new dual role with the Bulls.

Just days after helping Great Britain to an historic victory over the Kiwis on his international swansong, the veteran hooker was back at Odsal learning his trade as a coach.

The 33-year-old surprised everyone in the game when he decided to stay on with Bradford for another year as a player-coach.

"It is going to be a new challenge for me," said Lowes, who is learning the ropes in his new role under the watchful eyes of head coach Brian Noble and assistant Bernard Dwyer.

"It will be tough training myself while also doing the coaching but it is something I am determined to do.

"This week I have been watching Bernard working with the youngsters and I am there to help if he needs me."

Although the other Bulls to take part in the drawn Don't Drink Drive Test series have been given a month to recover, Lowes doesn't mind his instant return to work.

"Because I wasn't in the squad straight away I had about three weeks off then," he added. "That was my break and I don't mind being back so quickly. Pre-season training starts on Monday and there is a lot to do."

Lowes was seen by many as man of the match in the third Test victory at Wigan's JJB Stadium and believes he still has much to offer on the pitch in the coming season.
