Pupils at Haworth Primary School wanted to know if they could send letters to the editor of the Keighley News as part of a school project on newspapers.
A teacher contacted the KN and during a conversation with editor Malcolm Hoddy he learned that the seven and eight-year-olds had produced newspapers. Rather than having the letters sent, the editor arranged to pick them up and talk with the youngsters.
He said: "I had to check out the opposition. Seriously though, I was extremely impressed by their interest in the news and knowledge of current affairs. Their excellent letters, on a wide variety of subjects, were short, came straight to the point and were well constructed."
The pupils are pictured, left, with the newspapers they produced.
