Young Ben Rhydding schoolgirl Caitlin Williams has shown that she has the skills to follow the path of David Beckham.

The nine year-old has won her way through the same competition the young Beckham progressed from and will ply her skills at Manchester United's training ground in the final.

The young sports fanatic from Bolling Road was the only girl on her initial Manchester United Soccer Skills School course at Harrogate but she beat off the challenge from the boys to emerge as a national finalist.

Now Caitlin, who plays soccer with the boys for Ben Rhydding Primary School as well as for the Burley Juniors Under-10s team, will compete in the final at United's indoor training centre at The Cliff on Saturday, December 14.

The children who will be taking part have won through from courses held all around the UK. The competition will be very tough and the youngsters have been given specific skills to practice.

Up to 90 children will take part in the final and the winner of each age group will receive a trophy on the pitch at Old Trafford at half-time during the Premiership match with West Ham United.

Caitlin enjoys all sports and as well as playing soccer with the boys she also plays for Burley Cricket Club.
