Bulls new-boy Shontayne Hape today boldly declared: I have come here to win the Grand Final.

The 21-year-old former New Zealand Warriors centre flew in from Auckland yesterday full of hope for the new season.

A close friend of Robbie Paul, the confident junior Kiwi international has already begun training for the build-up to Super League VIII.

"As soon as the Bulls came in for me I wanted to come here," said Hape, who has been following the club's progress over the internet with Paul's family back in New Zealand.

"I spoke to Henry (Paul) who was back home at the time and he said it would be a good move for me and I am sure he is right.

"It is a fresh challenge and I am looking forward to getting back to playing."

Hape dislocated his knee after just 90 seconds of the opening game of the NRL season and hasn't played a competitive game since.

"My first goal here has to be to earn a regular first-team place," said Hape, who spent three years with the Warriors after moving there straight from school.

"I need to re-establish myself in the game and this is the place to do it. I've got a two-year contract with Bradford and I want to win the Grand Final - I think there is the team here to do it.

"I was watching the Test Series and saw all my new team-mates playing and I just wonder how anyone else can compete with a side like Bradford.

"And on a personal level I want to play my way back into the Kiwi side as soon as possible."

Pre-season training begins on Monday when Hape will meet the rest of his team-mates.
