A woman plans to be back in business a week after her firm was wrecked by fire.

Yvonne Bryant, boss of Bryant's Plastics off Coney Lane, Keighley, aims to start up production on Monday in part of the mill saved from the blaze.

Fire ripped through the manufacturing wing of the 19th Century, three-storey mill on Saturday, leaving it a burnt-out shell.

But firefighters from Keighley managed to prevent the blaze spreading into the storage area of the complex where materials were kept.

Ms Bryant, who employs ten people, said: "I've had wonderful support from so many people including the staff. They have stuck by me and we are trying to salvage what we can.

"I hope to be manufacturing again by Monday. It doesn't matter how long it takes - if I have to work all weekend - I want to have two machines working."

In the long-term she plans to continue manufacturing industrial- size plastic containers from the large mill complex.

Eighty firefighters from Keighley, Idle, Illingworth, Bradford, Bingley, Halifax, Brighouse, Haworth and Silsden tackled the outbreak at its height on Saturday as flames leapt to 30ft. They managed to stop it spreading further along the mill building and to two nearby unoccupied homes.

Fire crews had to break into the factory to remove a number of propane gas canisters which were likely to explode.

Due to the intensity of the heat and risk of falling debris, Coney Lane was closed at its junction with Park Lane.

Damping down continued into Sunday.

Fire investigators have stopped combing through the rubble because of the dangerous state of the building.

Only the walls remain standing and fire investigation officer David Nudds said he could not determine whether it was started deliberately or by an electrical fault.
