Master of ceremonies Victor Haydon, of Cullingworth, could hardly believe his luck when he discovered he had won a brand new Fiat Punto. The car was the star prize in a raffle at the annual dinner of the Annette Fox Leukaemia fund appeal where rock group, Smokie, was playing.
Winning a new car could not have come at a better time for Victor, 72, whose current car had broken down earlier that day on the way to an engagement. Victor had paid £10 for the ticket and said he was "extremely pleased" to find out he had won. Shortly afterwards, he announced to the guests that he would be donating £500 pounds to allow a child with leukaemia to visit Disneyland in Paris. Victor, who was also celebrating his golden wedding anniversary at the time, received his new car at a presentation at Sunwin Fiat in Cross Hills last Thursday.
Bravo ...Victor, right, receives his new Fiat from Sunwin group general manager Mike Austin
