Keighley Town Council is seeking the relatives of a photographer who took pictures of Keighley town centre before the redevelopment in the 1970s.

DR Prior's photographic collection is stored in Keighley Reference Library archive, and the town council wants to use copies as part of Keighley Day celebrations next month.

Town councillor Joyce Newton, who is spearheading the celebrations aimed at marking the first year of the new town council, said: "We plan to use the photographs as part of a picture trail around the town.

"But because they have copyright we need to get permission from the owner.

"We understand we can still use them, if we can show we have attempted to find the people with the copyright."

The photographic trail will involve pictures being posted in shops and premises around town to reveal how the district has changed.

The celebrations will kick off on Saturday, March 15, and include Keighley Day on Wednesday, March 19.

There will be a procession of light, heritage bus trail, activities on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway and a number of events throughout the community.

Anyone with information about the photographs should contact Keighley Town Council on 01535 618252.
