A young Internet entrepreneur who hails from Keighley is helping members of the public to become screen stars. Samuel-Dean McMur-ran has devised a website that provides wannabes with the right contacts to land a spot on their favourite game shows, DIY make-over programmes and reality TV hits like Big Brother.

The 22-year-old, who was born and raised in Keighley, has already seen the business he runs from his bedroom in South London flourish.

The site - www.beonscreen.com. - provides people with updated information about which shows are after contestants and how to get in touch with the production companies for the likes of Blind Date and Changing Rooms. He said: "When I first moved to London I wanted to work in TV but I got rejection letter after rejection letter.

"Instead of giving up I thought about all those people who want to take part in television programmes but don't know how to go about it. I thought if there was one place where people could go it would make it easier for everyone, including the TV companies.

"I launched it in October and it literally took off overnight, with nearly a thousand people logging on. I did a trial with a production company and they were amazed at the response.

"The production companies love it because people aren't ringing up and jamming their switchboards, and members of the public love it because they can see what programmes are on the lookout for people to take part. The next thing is a reality game show where three celebrities run a club which will be staffed by members of the public."

Samuel-Dean (pictured) spent the first 15 years of his life in Keighley and has fond memories of walking across the road from his family home in Skipton Road to Cliffe Castle. The former Keighley Prep, Lady Lane and Bradford Grammar School student moved with his parents Samuel and Rani, sister Xenobia and brother Ja'mahl to Bristol and went to a business college in Weston-super-Mare.

He then made the move to London at the age of 19 to forge his career. A friend from Bristol continues to design the website pages.

He added: "I'm going to do a nationwide tour to promote the site, and I will definitely be coming to Keighley because I have lots of happy memories from my childhood."
