GUISELEY'S veteran athlete Tony Bowman was among the medals once again at the British Masters Indoor Athletics Championships.

At the Kelvin Hall in Glasgow retired probation officer Tony broke the British record as he dashed to victory in the 60 metres hurdles in a time of 10.3 secs.

He also won the gold medal in the 400 metres in 68.5 secs and took silver in the 200 metres in 28.81 secs.

Tony was well pleased with his performance, especially in the hurdles.

"I had struggled to make all the hurdles in training and had been struggling to get the three strides between hurdles but it all came right on the day," said a delighted Tony.

"I had also struggled with a groin strain for much of the last year so I was well pleased when it all came together in Glasgow."

Tony is now preparing for the European Masters Indoor Championships in San Sebastien in three weeks time.

Tony is now a European Masters champion both indoors and out. In September he competed in the outdoor championships in Potsdam.

The 65 year-old defied a stomach muscle injury to win gold in the 300m hurdles and in a record breaking 100m hurdles.

He recorded 17.09 as he broke both the British and European Masters records in this event.

Tony also picked up two silver medals in the relays.
