MAJOR Graeme Hall, 35, from Burley-in-Wharfedale,competed in the Yeomanry Ski-ing Championships in Verbier, Switzerland.

He helped the Royal Mercian and Lancastrian Yeomanry to second place in this year's championships, finishing individually in sixth place.

Major Hall went to the championships after leading a group of 80 Officer Cadets from Manchester and Salford Universities Officer Training Corps on an adventure training exercise in Flaine in the French Alps where he helped teach 30 novices the basics of ski-ing and snowboarding.

Originating from Harrogate Major Hall rook up ski-ing over 20 years ago as a youngster.

He had a commission in the RAF and on leaving in 1990 he joined the Territorial Army and became attached to the Manchester and Salford Universities Officer Training Corps.

Having lived in Burley-in-Wharfedale since 1999 he is employed by Damart of Bingley. He is grateful to them for allowing him time to compete and he can recommend their products for keeping him warm both on and off the piste!

Major Hall is also grateful to his ski suppliers Glide and Slide of Otley.

"Their skis gave me the edge over other competitors on the day," he added.
