Bedale Town 2 , Addingham 3

Addingham made it five straight wins following a tale of two halves performance at Bedale. The harsh frost ensured that the thawed out playing field quickly became a sticky unaccommodating surface and Addingham nearly slipped up against their struggling opposition.

Addingham were without captain Si Collins and star man from the previous week Ricky Chlebo but welcomed back Galasso, Paul Marriott and the Kernick brothers.

Whether it was the arduous journey up to Bedale or something in North Yorkshire air that resulted in Addingham starting the game on auto pilot is unknown but the collective attitude was one of laziness and selfishness in the first-half at least.

Addingham were sluggish and over confident and their non-work ethic nearly proved to be their downfall. Having taken the lead early on through Charlesworth who brilliantly chipped the 'keeper, Addingham got complacent to a degree not witnessed previously.

While Bedale battled and fought for every ball Addingham seemed content not to bother somehow believing that things would go their way with the minimum amount of effort.

Things would not and Bedale equalised midway through the half. Having beaten the off-side trap the Bedale striker got to the by-line before centering for his strike partner to score.

With five minutes of the half left Addingham's plight deepened as Cummins, feeling a hamstring injury left the field to be replaced by Paul Marriott in the midfield.

Half-time came not a moment too soon as Bedale missed a couple of chances to take the lead. After some harsh but merited words from skipper Dobson Addingham started the second-half with a change to their formation.

Addingham switched from the back three to a flat back four to try and create some space for Galasso and Kenedy in the midfield.

Marriott switched to left back to defend alongside Mills, Wells and Andy Collins. Either the change in formation or the words of Dobson ringing in their ears produced a marked change in both belief and effort and Addingham began to play some of their best football of the year in the second-half.

Aided by Carl Kernick coming on as substitute down the right flank and Paul Marriott's advancing role Addingham began to create some gilt edged chances with Perkins, Galasso, Charlesworth and Marriott all going close before Charlesworth restored Addingham's lead.

After a good ball through from Andy Collins, advancing from the back, Charlesworth showed a level head to fire home a rebound after the 'keeper had saved his original effort. The confidence began to flow through Addingham and they were now in full control in terms of possession and territory.

Again chances came for Addingham to extend the lead but they were not taken and it was against the run of play that Bedale again equalised. Addingham made another change replacing the hobbling Perkins with Mick Kernick playing his first game for 11 months following a long injury lay off.

It was a foul on Kernick that allowed Addingham to retake the lead and in effect take the three points. Paul Marriott's free-kick broke through the crowded penalty area and squeezed inside the post.

The last 15 minutes passed with Addingham in the ascendency but with no further change to the scoreline.Addingham overall deserved the points with a sterling second-half display but they need to remember their languor in the first-half.
