If the manager feels I can go in and do a job tomorrow, then I am champing at the bit.

We got beat 4-0 by Birmingham reserves last night but they had a very experienced side out and we had myself and Andy Myers and the rest of the team was young lads.

It was a disappointing result but from a personal point of view everthing was fine.

The plan was for me to play for an hour and I did and I didn't have any problems.

I don't know what the manager's plans are for the weekend but my feeling was that if I played a full game then in 45 hours' time I would be in no shape to play another game.

That leaves the option for me to be involved at Coventry tomorrow.

If I am not involved then I understand because it is very early for me and I would not be disappointed.

Ideally I would like to have more training and more games before returning to first-team action.

But I do feel I have been guilty in the past of taking the responsibility and coming back too soon. I have been so keen to get involved.

Obviously the football club are not going to hold players back - that is a mistake I have made in the past, but this time, before I started playing, I did some good work with the fitness coach and now I am in my second week of training.

So I don't see there being a

problem with regards to injuries flaring up.

It is the general fitness and sharpness that I am concerned about.

Andy Myers felt a bit stiff after last night's game - but that is to be expected after coming back from an injury like his. He struggled a little bit towards the end of his stint.

We both want to be back in the action where it really counts - in the first team.

There are some very good players at this club and I know we are capable of rising to mid-table in the division.
