Some of the greatest players ever to wear the red, amber and black of Bradford Northern will once again take to the field at Odsal next week.

The emotional homecoming day against Wakefield Trinity Wildcats on Sunday, March 9, will also feature an all-star contest with Keith Mumby, Karl Fairbank, Brendan Hill and even Trevor Foster stepping out on the hallowed turf as a curtain-raiser.

Legends from the 1950s to the 1990s will feature as the Bulls attempt to make the return to their spiritual home a day to remember.

Following the game, many of the other great past players will be introduced to the crowd, including Neil Fox, Tommy Smales, Jimmy Thompson and Alan Redfearn.

"We have had many requests to see some of the Bradford Northern legends in action once again, from old Northern die-hards, and particularly from our younger fans who hear their parents speak so fondly of their memories," said Bulls marketing executive Simon Collinson. "This is the ideal time to stage such a fixture with the return to Odsal, and to re-create history the players will be changing in the old changing rooms beneath the Trevor Foster Lounge and walking down the terraces, through the crowds, to the pitch."

The game has been organised with the help of Jon Hamer, the former Bradford Northern prop forward, and has been supported by The Past Players' Association.

It will take the form of two 20-minute halves, with kick-off at about 1.15pm. The legends match forms part of a huge package of entertainment including pyrotechnics and off-the field entertainment with turnstiles opening at 12.30pm for the Bulls' home Super League opener.

Meanwhile, The Bulls under-21s kick-off their season tomorrow night against Hull at 7.30pm at College Grove, Wakefield, the home of Wakefield Rugby Union Club.

A number of first-team squad members are expected to be involved.
