Trafford 0, Guiseley 2: A first-half brace from recent signing Alex Nesovic secured all three points for Guiseley from this UniBond Division One Roses clash at Mancunian strugglers Trafford.

It was a far from classic game of football but the win snapped Guiseley out of a run of three away defeats on the trot and will have boosted their confidence ahead of tonight's home meeting with Witton Albion.

Nesovic struck at either end of the first half and it was his second goal that effectively ended the contest.

The home side's short spell of fight was encapsulated in a 15-minute period after the first goal and making it 2-0 in the 45th minute broke Trafford's spirits.

Nathan Hay returned to the side and had an immediate effect. His fourth minute throw-in sent Dave Henry away and the midfielder's right wing cross was swept in from five yards by Nesovic.

On the stroke of half-time the combination worked once more, Henry this time receiving the ball from Mark Stuart in open play and he crossed from the left flank for Nesovic to convert from inside the six-yard box.

"It was a dogged performance rather than a majestic or dominant one, but it is a welcome three points," admitted Guiseley manager Neil Parsley.

"I don't imagine it was a good one for the spectators but we have won and kept a clean sheet for the first time since there was a king on the throne," quipped the boss, who may be without his match winner for tonight.

Nesovic picked up a thigh strain and had be taken off just after the hour mark. Right back Peter Atkinson missed out on Saturday, also with a thigh injury, and he will return to the squad tonight.
