He was fab against Fabrizio now Mark Bower aims to outclass the Owls.

City's locally-born centre-half is hoping to shackle Shefki Kuqi with another show of steel to match his polished performance at Pride Park.

Bower and David Wetherall lapped up everything Derby could throw at them, and Fabrizio Ravanelli was hardly given a kick.

Bower admitted: "I have to say I've had harder games this season. Early on they were moving quite well and causing us a few problems but once we got to grips with the movement they were just lumping high balls.

"It was only afterwards that I really thought about what Ravanelli has done in his career. A few of my friends were calling me and saying well done for doing a good job.

"They were saying that he has played in World Cups and Champions League finals. So when you put it like that, it was a good achievement.

"But everyone played their part in stopping the supply lines which meant they couldn't play it on the ground.

"And Wethers was a big help before the game, giving me advice about how to play Ravanelli.

"He gave me all the right information, telling me to keep Ravanelli on his right because he's all left foot normally."

Bower is relishing the chance of another physical confrontation tonight in a typical no-holds barred Yorkshire derby.

And he hopes Wednesday can build up a run to survive the drop - after tonight of course.

Bower said: "I'm really looking forward to it because it should be a great atmosphere.

"It's the sort of big game you want to play in with a good crowd and noisy supporters. Sheffield Wednesday always bring a lot of fans and it will make for a big occasion.

"I hope they do stay up because I would miss not playing them again. And Sheffield is a lot nearer than Brighton."
