Guiseley 0, Witton Albion 1: An injury-time goal robbed Guiseley of a share of the spoils in last night's UniBond Division One clash with Witton Albion at Nethermoor.

The home side had matched their visitors in terms of possession and on chances created but a scrambled strike three minutes into stoppage time broke their hearts.

Guiseley boss Neil Parsley was forced to put striker Alex Nesovic into the starting line-up against his better judgement. Nesovic proved the match-winner when he netted both goals in Saturday's 2-0 victory at Trafford but picked up a thigh strain.

He was to have been rested for the visit of the Cheshire outfit. However, forward partner Alan Bailey failed to make the journey from his Manchester home in time to be included on the team sheet.

"Alex was only 70 per cent fit but he had to play because Alan got held up behind an accident on the motorway on his way over," explained Parsley.

"That threw our plans out of the window even before kick off but Alex did well under the circumstances. We had our chances and deserved something out of the game."

Nesovic, former Bantam Mark Stuart and midfielder Pete Sumner all went close to giving Guiseley the lead, one effort from Stuart being hacked off the line with Witton's keeper well beaten.

The visitor's Ross Clegg got the all-important goal when he headed home in a chaotic goalmouth scene right at the death.

Eccleshill United will be aiming to bounce back from a morale-shattering away defeat when they take on Buxton in the Northern Counties East Premier Division tonight.

United were beaten 3-0 at struggling Pickering Town on Saturday but they will have captain Richard Wilson back at the heart of their defence.

A victory against the fourth-placed club would give credence to United's aims of a top-eight finish and qualification for next season's President's Cup.

However, manager Tony Brown feels there will have to be a huge improvement on the weekend's display.

"We had too many players off their game at the same time against Pickering," he said.

"You can cope with one or two being a bit under par but that was not the case on Saturday. We were well beaten because all over the pitch we were second best.

"Sometimes that happens, to every team at any level. I want to see how my players come back from that now. The way they respond tonight will say a lot about the squad we have."

Wilson was unavailable due to work commitments on Saturday and will return to the starting line-up. He will take the place in the 14 selected at the weekend of young winger Matt Morgan who is working away.

Thackley have been denied a fixture in the Northern Counties East Premier Division tonight because their scheduled opponents, Bridlington Town, have a President's Cup tie.

The League's fixtures secretary was forced to re-arrange games this week at short notice due to a number of internal cup competitions.

Thackley's Academy side were in action last night but bowed out of the League Cup following a 2-1 defeat at Darlington College.

After a goalless first half the home side took the lead just after the break.

Patrick Carberry levelled for the Bradford side but they were made to pay for a host of missed chances when Darlington netted an 86th-minute winner.
