Ossett Albion 1, Eccleshill United 1: Eccleshill United bounced back from a questionable penalty award against them at a crucial point in the game to gain a draw at promotion-chasing Ossett Albion in the Northern Counties East Premier Division.

"I am pleased with a point from a place like Albion, we deserved that at least," said United boss Tony Brown.

"The lads played exceptionally well but the officials spoiled what could have been a good game. It's not like me to complain about the referee and his assistants but they were shocking, thankfully for both teams.

"I know it's a difficult job and they mainly get it right but in this game they were poor and the penalty was just one of the incidents. For me it was a 50/50 ball but their lad squealed louder than ours as they kicked each other.

"We had to rely on a good individual goal to get back in the game and the longer it went on with us behind the more you wonder if it's your day."

The spot-kick was awarded in the 42nd minute against Paul Newsome and Mick Norbury stepped forward to drill it past Craig Bates.

United were kept at bay until 14 minutes from time before they produced the equaliser. Stuart Waite hit a cross-field ball to Jamie Buchan and the midfielder stepped inside one opponent and rounded two others before finishing with a well-placed 15-yard shot.
