Nicky Law's head will not be turned by talk of taking over at Derby.

Law's name has been linked with the Pride Park club, who have slumped into relegation trouble after a torrid run of nine games without a win.

The Rams, beaten again at the weekend at Sheffield United, have suspended manager John Gregory and the City boss is being touted in some quarters as a possible successor.

"Obviously I've read it as well but it's not distracting," said Law who has previously been linked with Hull City and Sheffield Wednesday during his 15 months at the Bantams helm. "It's been there before with other things.

"But at the end of the day you get on with the job in hand. I've got a massive job on here and that's what I shall continue to do."

Law has another year to run on his contract but chairman Gordon Gibb has said the board is in no hurry to start talks about a possible new deal.

Law's immediate aim is to rubber-stamp City's place in Division One for next season and he thinks one more win will do that.

City will be aiming to achieve that at Burnley tomorrow and bounce back from an awful display in the 1-0 home loss to high-flying Reading.

The Bantams hardly managed a shot at goal and Law admitted: "A few of our lads went missing and hid from the ball.

"We let ourselves down and contributed to our own downfall. Their goal was something you would expect to see at the circus.

"There wasn't any shape to the team but that's probably down to the fact we've lost Ashley Ward and three players on the left-hand side. Unfortunately with the inability to bring anybody in on loan to improve it, we're going to be like that for the next two weeks or so."

Top scorer Andy Gray was waiting to hear today if he would get a late call into the Scotland squad. If he does then he will be out of next week's trip to Norwich like Jamie Lawrence who flew out last night to join Jamaica on Caribbean Cup duty.
