Spillers is pulling out of the bread baking industry but the jobs of 445 employees at the Westgate Hill, Bradford, bakery have been saved by a take-over by Associated British Foods. Although the industry is still in turmoil, a secure future for the Westgate Hill factory was predicted today by Mr Terry O'Neill, of Bradford, who is national president of the Bakers' Union.
