Councillors were challenged to take nappies seriously during Real Nappy Week when they were given a presentation on the steps of City Hall.

Emma Hill, sustainable waste co-ordinator for Bradford Environmental Action Trust (BEAT), which co-organised the event with the Bradford Real Nappy Group, said: "Bradford Council spends in excess of £800,000 disposing of dirty nappies to our local landfill sites. Why, when modern, shaped washable nappies offer an easy, cost-saving and environment friendly alternative?"

There will be a real nappy information morning at Bradford Royal Infirmary tomorrow between 9.30am and 12 noon when representatives of Bradford Real Nappy Group will be available to answer questions.
