Bradford singing sensation Kimberley Walsh's band Girls Aloud, pictured, has changed the lyrics of its new single because they contained swear words.

The band, formed on the hit ITV1 show Popstars: The Rivals, will release its second single No Good Advice on Monday, May 12.

A spokesman for the band's record company Polydor said the girls had changed the lyrics - which originally contained a four-letter word and the word damn - because of their young fans.

The changed line now goes: "Shut your mouth because it might show."

The song has been described by Polydor as "one in the eye for anyone who doubted the girls would pull off two hits in a row".

Kimberley said the single was "a statement of independence".

It follows Girls Aloud's debut Christmas chart-topper, Sound of the Underground.

The band's as-yet-untitled album is due out at the end of May.

As part of a new image to promote the single, 21-year-old Kimberley, of Allerton, Bradford, has been given a new haircut with a fringe.

The five-piece has already performed No Good Advice on television. And the girls have been on a promotional tour of Europe, plugging Sound of the Underground.

Success has been running in Kimberley's family recently, with her sister Sally's role in a hard-hitting play.

Sally, 23, attended Idle-based theatre school Stage 84 with Kimberley and played Lynn Hutchinson in Emmerdale for three years.

She quit the soap to broaden her career and is appearing in Sunbeam Terrace at the West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds.

Sally plays a lap dancer in the drama about a drug dealer living on Sunbeam Terrace in Beeston, Leeds. She has visited lap dancing clubs and taken pole dancing lessons for the role.

The play was written by Leeds-born Mark Catley, who was commissioned as part of the BBC's new writing scheme, Northern Exposure. Sally has also appeared in television shows including ITV dramas Heartbeat and Children's Ward.

Sunbeam Terrace runs until Saturday.
