Bradford have won the Yorkshire Inter-District Snooker League for the first time in five seasons.
They clinched the title by defeating Huddersfield No 1 5-1 away at Springwood WMC.
Bradford were three points ahead of Sheffield No 2 going into the final round of matches, and knew that four
points would definitely give them the crown.
But they were indebted to Kevin Firth, who stepped in as a late replacement for Howard Mawson and brought
Bradford home with a 2-0 victory.
Earlier Wayne Cooper had given the team their usual excellent start with a 2-0 triumph, and Sajid Khan drew the last match 1-1.
Khan said: "It has been a privilege to have been Bradford's captain this season, and I cannot remember Wayne playing as well as he has this season.
"But there is so much talent in Bradford that the pressure is always on the players in the team to perform."
Others to have been used are Mawson and Ilyas Khan.
Cooper (The Clubhouse In Cue Gardens) and Mawson (Regal) are through to the semi-finals of the Bradford
Snooker Championships.
Cooper had a break of 116 in defeating Richard Duffield (Great Horton Con Club) 4-0, while Mawson beat Paul
Benn (Harold Club) 4-2.
They will now meet in the last-four at Great Horton Conservative Club on Saturday (7.30), and the other semi-final is between Hanif Rafiq (Cuedos) and Darren Milner (East Ward Labour Club) at the same venue and start time a week on Saturday.
Through to the final of the Hey's Trophy Team Snooker Tournament are The Clubhouse In Cue Gardens A and Cuedos B.
That will be played next month at a date and venue to be decided.
Cue Gardens A defeated the Stone Chair Variety Club in their semi-final, Cuedos B eliminating Harold Club.
Moorhouse Shield Team Billiards semi-finals: Undercliffe Cricket Club v Lilycroft WMC, Harold Club v Lidget Green Cricket Club.
E Rosse Hopkinson Snooker Plate semi-finals: Chalks v East Wad Labour Club A, Laisterdyke Cricket Club A v Regal. First named club to stage
home leg on Thursday, April 17. Second legs on Thursday, May 1.
